Course Objectives

• Acquire foundational knowledge of renewable energy, including an understanding of various technologies, their comparative advantages, and key examples of renewable energy policies. They will grasp market trends, global and regional demand-supply dynamics, and gain insights into cost and price dynamics.
• Comprehend market trends in renewable energy, identifying key players, cost dynamics, and recent developments. They will gain insights into international and regional renewable energy policies, understanding their implications and the efforts driving renewable energy adoption.
• Apply their knowledge to approach large-scale renewable energy projects. They will understand the planning and structural aspects, capacity functions in the power system, and commercial aspects such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). Participants will also grasp various support mechanisms, including subsidy tariffs, auction mechanisms, and energy taxation.
• Critically analyze the commercial aspects of renewable energy projects, comparing and evaluating Power Purchase Agreements and subsidy tariff options. They will conduct a comparative analysis of auction mechanisms and energy taxation, gaining insights into the financial dynamics of renewable energy projects.
• Synthesize their knowledge to provide an outlook for the demand and supply of renewable energy. They will explore future market trends, considering various types of renewable energy sources, and envision what the future market for renewables may look like.
