Course Overview

ASME PCC-2: Repair of Pressure Equipment and Piping is a standard generated by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) that outlines safe and elective aspects for repairing pressure equipment and piping systems. Its first edition was approved in 2004; subsequent editions were published in 2008, 2011, 2015, and 2018. Starting with the 2018 edition, new editions are expected to be published in a 4-year cycle. ANSI approved ASME PCC-2–2022 as an American National Standard on April 4, 2022.

ASME PCC-2 provides methods for repairing static equipment, process piping, pipelines, and associated equipment within the scope of ASME Pressure Technology Codes and Standards after they have been placed in service. These repair methods may be temporary or permanent depending on the inspection codes (API 570, API 510, or API 653)   and will include relevant design, fabrication, examination NDE, and pressure testing. Many international companies have adopted the ASME PCC-2 procedures in their specifications.

This ASME PCC-2: Repair of Pressure Equipment & Piping training course will enable the participants to understand the standard basic concepts, philosophy, and repair procedures. Moreover, the participants will be able to select the proper repair technique by knowing the limitations and advantages & disadvantages of each procedure mentioned in the standard. Case studies and relevant examinations will also be held during the programme.

Course Objectives

The primary objective of this training course is to enrich the participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to repair pressure equipment and piping.

After the training course, the participants will learn to:

  • Develop the concepts and technical terminology of this standard
  • Understand the basic concepts of the standard and their design fundamentals
  • Understand the in-service issues in pressure equipment and piping
  • Know about the maintenance aspects of this equipment
  • Acquire the standard repair techniques
  • Learn the fabrication requirements, assembly, welding, PWHT requirements and tolerances
  • Know the NDE and pressure testing procedures for repaired equipment and piping

Target Audience

This training course is primarily intended for beginners and experts involved in repairing piping and pressure equipment. Experienced engineers, who would like to update their knowledge of this standard, will also benefit.

It is suitable for a wide range of working professionals, including (but not limited to) the following:
