Course Overview

This Structural Analysis and Design Application online training course will bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional skill when designing industrial projects in general and Oil & Gas and Power Generation projects. Structures made of reinforced concrete are used extensively in the industry, especially in onshore oil & gas areas. How structure design is used in industrial projects differs from how it is used in normal home projects taught in schools and engineering institutions.

It talks about how to build a concrete structure to be strong, useful, and durable. The ACI, BS, UBC, and ASCE codes will also be discussed so that participants can choose a safe and easy-to-use building method for their business. The chances of failure, especially in ACI and BS, will be addressed, and the most important steps in design and review will be shown. Also, there will be a focus on how to solve problems and challenges in the field while considering secondary loads like wind loads and earthquake forces. Participants will gain advanced knowledge of structural engineering, including principles of structural analysis and their application, the behaviour of materials under loading, the selection of construction materials, and design fundamentals for steel structures.

Course Objectives

Participants will be provided with knowledge and skills on structural design and how to use structural analysis software in the design work. It is the structural engineering professional’s choice for steel, concrete, timber, aluminum, and cold-formed steel design of virtually any structure, including culverts, petrochemical plants, tunnels, piles, and much more, through its flexible modelling environment, advanced features, and fluent data collaboration.

After the online training course, the participants will learn to:

  • An overview of modern and effective procedures for the design of reinforced concrete structures in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Knowledge of calculation for reinforced concrete elements used in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Gain more knowledge and help using new tools for designing and reviewing the design for a new project or changing an existing one
  • Understand the design of foundations
  • Know the rule of thumb to check the concrete form and a list of things to do

Target Audience

This online training course is intended to provide professionals and engineers to be familiar with the American Concrete Institute Standard (ACI) and British standard (BS) for concrete structure designing. It will also benefit junior or senior-level civil and structural engineers who need in-depth knowledge about structural engineering activities and how to cooperate in the design phase.

It is suitable for a wide range of working professionals, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Civil Engineers
  • Steel Fabricators
  • Structural Engineers
  • Construction Engineers
  • Architectural Engineers
  • Design Structural Engineers
  • Civil Engineers working in Oil & Gas field
  • Civil Engineers working in Power Plants & Energy field
  • Civil Engineers working in Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants

Training Methodology

This online training course is a mixture of lecture, video presentation, trainer-facilitated workshop exercises, and case study analysis organised through a Virtual Learning Platform anytime and anywhere.
