Course Overview

Operational Risk is the risk of loss consequential from ineffective or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events that can disrupt business operations. Note that there are five categories of operational risk:  There are three pillars of operational risk management: people risk, process risk, system risk, external event risk, and legal and compliance risk. Allocating capital, transferring operational risk through insurance, and actively mitigating operational risk through product inspection and quality control. Another approach to identifying operational risk is to look for critical dependencies in people, processes, systems, and external structures. Once identified, dependencies can be managed or designed by adding failover and system redundancy.
